Giving Voice to Persons with Autism
La Becky Roe, Speaker
Recognized for her dynamic energy and relentless spirit, author and speaker, La Becky Roe, engages audiences across the US, improving their understanding of autism and strategies to support their neurodivergent neighbors.
As a retired police officer and autism subject matter expert, La Becky addresses law enforcement professionals ensuring they are aware of best practices for engaging with persons with mental health disorders. The success of her trainings in the government sector have led to expanded educational partnerships in public schools where she trains teachers and administrators around how to build inclusive and supportive educational environments.
Likewise, her progressive keynote speeches have a profound effect on audiences increasing their mental health awareness and advocacy. As the mother of an adult son with autism, La Becky’s passion can be felt as she delivers wisdom gained from formal education and 28 years of lived experience. With a perspective that balances spirituality with solutions, La Becky leaves audiences in awe, imagining the ways they too can contribute to an inclusive world where persons with mental health disorders can reach their highest potential.

“Ms. Roe has been a presenter at the EC Summer Conference within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since its inception. She has been an asset to our teachers, paraprofessionals, and leaders within the community by providing excellent professional learning to support our students with disabilities.
Those attending her sessions have stated how engaging she is, and they leave knowing they are going to be able to use valuable resources and strategies immediately. Observing the session, I have seen, first-hand, how energetic and enthusiastic Ms. Roe is with her craft. She engages the learners in a way that elicits deeper questions and a desire to be better. Our department district looks forward to many more years of partnership with Ms. Roe, so current and future educators can truly learn how to best support students with disabilities.”
